Pastoral visitors needed!
Our Pastoral Care Team could use your help for a few hours each week. We have a number of parishioners who are housebound, some temporarily shut-in, some who are lonely and some unwell. An occasional visit or even just a phone call from someone who cares can be a great blessing. We would gladly provide some training and support if you feel you could help out. Please contact David Swift through the church office.

ACW Spring 2009 Update
VESTRY REPORT
The St. James Anglican Church Women worked hard during 2008 to fulfill our mission of worship, learning, outreach and fellowship. We achieved this through our meetings and activities, which included interesting guest speakers; discussion; prayer and fundraising.
Our major income-generating activities this year were the annual Garage Sale, the Loaves and Ladle Luncheon, the Madagascar Brunch and the Holstein Dinner. We were also blessed with the generous support and contributions from the St. James Parish in our Bales for the North campaign, the Akany Famonjena Orphanage in Madagascar donations, and with our new Step Up initiative in support of the Lanark County Food Bank. We made contributions to support the work of Tom Affleck and the SchoolBOX program in Nicaragua, the Guatemala Stove Project, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, the Lanark County Food Bank, St. Jude’s Cathedral and the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada’s Least Coin Fellowship.
LOAVES AND LADLE LUNCH
A very successful luncheon was held on Sunday, Feb. 15. Participants enjoyed a delicious meal of homemade soup and bread as well as apple crisp and ice cream for dessert. Resulting donations were directed to support a variety of charities such as: sponsoring a woman from The Well to attend a weekend of rejuvenation at Temple Pastures; contributing to the Lanark County Food Bank, donating to Alwood Treatment Centre for youth and to Tom Affleck for the SchoolBOX program in Nicaragua.
BALES FOR THE CANADIAN NORTH
Each year, we collect new clothing and toiletries for families in the northern communities of:
| • |
Fort Chipewyan, Alberta |
| • |
Fort McPherson, Aklavik, Tuktoyaktuk and Inuvik, NWT |
| • |
Arctic Bay, Cambridge Bay, Pond Inlet and Pangnirtung, Nunavut |
| • |
Kashechewan, Ontario |
A blue bin was placed at the back of the church to receive items. Also, empty Mother’s Bags were filled with toiletry items and returned. These items will be offered in Christ’s name and blessed during our offertory on Sunday, March 29. We would like to thank all those that have generously donated to our Bales initiative
